In 2019, Senator McGarvey was selected by his colleagues to serve as Minority Floor Leader in the Senate during the 2019-2020 biennium.
Senator McGarvey graduated from the University of Missouri with a B.A. in Journalism. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Law. He is a practicing attorney with Morgan & Pottinger, PSC.
He is a member of the Louisville Bar Association, the Young Professionals Association of Louisville, and the New Leaders Council. He also offers legal aid services through Louisville’s Domestic Violence Advocacy Program.
